Laboratories Infrastructure

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department has several laboratories categorized according to their purpose and meaning:

  • Faculty Spaces and Co-laboratories

Academic Laboratories

These laboratories are the core spaces for the academic-practical learning. They were design and build for the students with a mixed environment of comfort, group meeting and quick work in mind. They promote the individual as well as the group work and are equipped with audiovisual screens, internet wideband, detachable tables and power supplies, waveform generators as well as oscilloscopes.

Research Laboratories

Electrical and Electronics Department and their research groups have special infrastructure to maintain their research to the edge. Each laboratory has some special conditioning to accomplish with its purpose. This infrastructure is also shared to develop some practices of the academic laboratories and services with the industry.

Service Laboratories

This laboratories support other activities of the Department and research groups needed to help and improve the mission of the Department. There are:



Printed Circuits Lab


Printed circuits fabrication and ensemble.

1 side or 2 sides PCBs for academics and research.

Sometime is used to develop planar antennas, high resolution masks, etc.

The user has to send the Gerber files and this laboratory will have the PCB in a record time between 3 to 10 days depending of the requirements.

Electronic Services


Used by the students to prototype, work freely in their projects and even extra hours.

There is a extraction cabin to help the students with the extraction of smokes caused by the ensemble process of their projects.

This laboratory has 14 workspaces so up to 2 students can work in the same table. Each table is equipped with a power supply, a waveform generator and an oscilloscope.

Faculty Spaces and Colaboratories

Some spaces of the Engineering Faculty were assigned to our Department to administer them, under a committee called Users Committee and represented by different professor and coordinator of laboratories of the whole Faculty.

Active Learning Plaza is one of the most interesting spaces: it’s an open space, for group work and with the purpose of networking with other students even of different departments.

Development of Prototypes Cubicles are 12 cubicles where the students can work by a whole semester in their prototypes. They have to submit an application at the beginning of the semester and the Users Committee studies all the submissions.

The co-laboratories are spaces that the Department helped to create and work with some constancy in them. They are: Colivri, Connectivity and Network and Microscopy.
